Making Us Proud

Tonight Lee Anna got to participate in her very first choir program. She's been able to go to choir on the Wednesday nights that we've been in town these last few months, and tonight was their spring program. I found out just a few days ago that she was supposed to have a costume from either a country or state, but luckily we were able to scrape something up. :)

At the end of the program, they gave awards to the kids who had perfect attendance or who had missed just one rehearsal all year. Lee Anna, on the other hand, could probably have gotten the award for the fewest rehearsals attended! I was proud of her, though. She had learned the songs well and did a great job!

After the program, Daddy introduced the kids to one of his family traditions - the after-program trip to McDonald's!

We were proud of our little singer. Here's a clip from one of the more familiar songs they did. Enjoy!

Three Years Already?

Guess who had a birthday today...That's right!
Sawyer is three today, and we had a great time celebrating our little man all day long. We started with a special birthday breakfast, then let him open his presents.
As the big sister, Lee Anna felt compelled to offer her assistance with the present-opening process. Luckily, Sawyer was glad to have the help, especially if it meant getting to what was inside sooner.
He loved all his gifts, and would have been content to stay right there and play with them for the rest of the day. But that was just the beginning.
Before he could even get most of the gifts out of their packaging, we headed out for a visit to the zoo. We all had a wonderful time. There was even a train to ride, which is definitely on Sawyer's list of most exciting things to do.
He got to brush a goat's fur, feed some birds, and see all kinds of animals up close and personal. We did, however, note that the Jacksonville zoo does not have nearly the collection of different species of camel as the zoo we've visited in our North African home.

When we got back home, it was time for cake and ice cream. GG had ordered this adorable cake with bugs all over it. It was a big hit with our little bug-lover!
Then he finally got to break out all the presents for some serious play time. Papaw, he should be ready to join you on the golf course in a week or two! He also discovered that these plastic golf clubs do a great job doubling as swords (which he pronouncers "so-word"). That makes them pretty cool in Sawyer's book.

It was a great day celebrating a delightful little person. He is a sweet gift to us, and we're so glad he's part of our family.

We love you, Sawyer! Happy Birthday!
