Last week, Beth and I took Sarah Claire to the mountains of North Carolina for a conference with a bunch of college students. One afternoon, we decided to hike up to a lookout point. Last time I hiked up there, it didn't seem quite so far. Of course, I was 20 years younger and not carrying a 10-pound baby last time I tried this! Our legs were only sore for three or four days, but the view from the top was breathtaking. I told Beth that the weather up there was a lot like the winter time at our home in the desert--except that the air is a lot cleaner, and it smells good.
